Who is the person behind this project?

Gabriela holds a BA in Economics and Political Science from ITAM and Master in Public Policy from the University of California at Berkeley. In the past 10 years, Gabriel has specialized in the analysis and optimization of economic processes for the inclusion of marginalized groups within the wealth-generating mechanisms. Since 2008, Gabriela is a consultant to the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a subsidiary of the World Bank Group, where she had the opportunity to work with secretaries of state and specialists in the design of public policies in countries like Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Indonesia , Kenya and South Africa. Gabriela has advised officials of these countries in terms of process optimization, simplification of procedures and trade regulations (starting a business, paying taxes, licensing) to improve the business environment in these economies and to include small entrepreneurs around the world in formal markets. Today, Gabriela is the only Mexican(female) working in the task within this institution. The experiences gained in the last 10 years have allowed Gabriela witness the impact that the use of information technology has around the world to include marginalized segments of the population within the formal economy, urban markets and wealth-generation instruments. For this reason, in 2009 she decided to officially found PROSPERA in order to contribute more directly to Mexico’s growth, the increase in productivity in sectors which are now marginalized and the reduction of economic inequality in his country.
